The SBK World Champions 2020 has ended. Jonathan Rea needed only three points on the eve of the Estoril round to win his sixth title in the Superbike class, and they arrived already in the first race of a somewhat dull weekend for the super Kawasaki champion. Both he and his main rival, Scott Redding, faced the races starting from the difficult position derived from qualifying, in which they both crashed. The protagonists of the weekend were Chaz Davies, winner of Race-2 and farewell to Ducati after 7 seasons, and Toprak Razgatlioglu, winner of Race-1 and the Superpole Race.
Our driver Maximilian Sheib unfortunately had to renounce the last races of the championship due to a bad injury remedied during the Montmelò weekend. After the crash and the relative checks of the case, he was forced to give up the last two races scheduled. The impact caused a fracture in the right arm, such as to suggest the forced stop and the subsequent operation. So, in France and Portugal, the Orelac team had to field a replacement at the height of the imaginative and talented Maxi, very sorry for himself and for the team. The operation in Europe went very well, we wish Max a speedy recovery and to start racing again soon!
